Sheepadoodles are absolutely adorable and we want your sheepadoodle to be healthy and strong throughout its entire life. Good nutrition will absolutely matter to have a long happy, healthy life for your beloved puppy. The quality of nutrition differs significantly depending on the product and who creates the food and the quality and source of ingredients. Please do not put your puppy’s health at risk especially if the puppy’s food may be on the RECALL list or the ingredients are toxic with pesticides or source ingredients from China. To check dog foods which made the NAUGHTY or RECALL list, please sign up for recalls at www.dogfoodadvisor.com. One highly recommended Doodle breeder feeds her puppies Life’s Abundance All Stages because of their superior nutrition. In a future blog, sheepadoodle food and nutrition will be the focus along with product reviews, recipes and homemade organic food.
Most sheepadoodle breeders require new puppy parents to continue with the breeder puppy food for at least the first 30 days your puppy is in your home. Your puppy will usually come with a 3 day supply. If you choose to feed a different food after the first 30 days please make the transition gradually so as to not upset the digestive system of your puppy. An angry puppy stomach means more clean up in all aisles throughout the home.
3. Nuvet Plus Wellness Wafers
Nuvet Plus Wellness Wafers provides critical, essential and vital nutrients that are missing in processed pet food.
These vital nutrients support your sheepadoodle puppy’s optimal health, by boosting the cutie pie puppy’s immunity and reducing cell damage which accelerates aging. Nuvet Plus Wellness Wafters host human-grade ingredients. Their 23-year history of NO RECALL free record barks for itself.
4. Water and Food Bowls
Please avoid plastic food and water bowls for your adorable sheepadoodle puppy as it can leach chemicals and toxins into the water and food. This leaching can damage your puppy’s health inadvertently. Stainless steel bowls are best. Healthy sheepadoodles make happy sheepadoodles.
5. Bed & Leash & ID Tag with Collar & Puppy Waste Bags & Pooper Scooper & Stain Remover & Odor Remover
The most important aspects of the sheepadoodle puppy’s bed are that the bed’s materials are non toxic and easy to clean and not destroyable. The leash as well should be chosen for non-toxic materials as well as easy use and the puppy waste bags for those wonderful walks together with your adorable new sheepadoodle puppy. Pooper Scoopers make clean-up easier. Because puppy poop is part of life with all that furry cuteness and cheeriness, a stain remover and an odor remover for the inevitable potty accidents will keep the home looking great and the home smelling clean again. Some new sheepadoodle puppy parents use a puppy potty box with newspaper or wood pellets. This is another option for puppy potty training.
6. Crate & Crate pad or liner to help potty train your sheepadoodle puppy
With the Crate, please select a Crate without toxic materials and with a divider to remove once your puppy grows. The Crate gives your new sheepadoodle puppy comfort and a sense of a den or snuggly home space once sheepadoodle puppy adjusts to it. This is the best way to potty train your puppy. Please make your life easier by purchasing machine washable Crate pads or liners as well. With less accidents with your puppy, then everyone is happier. Sheepadoodle puppies are baby dogs, so potty training is a new experience. The Crate will make this easier for the sheepadoodle puppy.
Depending on the size and breed of your puppy, these are the general guidelines for wire crates:
Wire crate – appropriate size 30” minis, 36” mediums, 42” standards
7. Train your sheepadoodle with tools
Successfully training your sheepadoodle puppy requires some tools to boost your combined happiness and less time spent repeating drills. As sheepadoodle puppies are sensitive creatures who aim to please with energy, positive and consistent reinforcement are the most successful training best practice. The training tools kit suggestions are:
1.Puppy pee pads – if your sheepadoodle puppy is trained indoors at any time
2.Paper towels & spot cleaner – Because life is full of accidents
3.Teething toys – not made of toxic materials
- Puppy toys – not made of toxic materials
Chew and cuddle toys – squeaky (always a favorite for our dogs), bouncy, soft, some plush, hard chewy like Kong. We suggest buying a variety to start with so you can find out which ones your puppy prefers!
Fetch toys – tennis balls, jolly ball et cetera.
Chew treats – bully sticks, chicken strips, sweet potato chews et cetera.
Bitter Apple is great to help curb puppies’ bad chewing habits on things they should not chew.
NO RAWHIDES! We have found them dangerous as puppies and dogs will ingest too large of a piece and it may cause an intestinal blockage.
5. Puppy treats
Please check and review INGREDIENTS! As many puppy treats have fillers and ingredients that may cause allergies or compromise their health. One highly recommended Doodle trainer recommends these treats for nutrition, NuVet and Life Abundance.
6. Puppy Play Pen
7. Puppy Training Education

8. Grooming your pup
Grooming your beautiful and adorable sheepadoodle puppy is key to your pup’s health and beauty. Here are key products to buy and points to consider before bringing that bundle of furry joy home.
- Shampoo and Conditioner – Sheepadoodle puppy have a different hair PH than human hair, so using human shampoo with a puppy can be irritating and damaging to their skin. This also applies to using human conditioners on sheepadoodle puppy. Special dog shampoo and conditioner with the correct PH is best for your puppy, plus it will make bath time much more enjoyable and fun for everyone.
- Dog brush- Sheepadoodle puppy has a beautiful coat which requires a minimum of several times a week of brushing to maintain the undercoat, but if your puppy loves playing outside or wrestling and rolling around as most puppies do, a more frequent brushing maybe needed. Please remember to shower them with kisses, good and positive comments and treats when brushing their fur and the puppy will surely love this bonding time with you. This can be a great time for one on one attention, which your puppy will adore and becomes a routine that your puppy looks forward to. Puppies are very affectionate so don’t be surprised if they lay down licks on your face as you brush their fur.
One breeder finds the Stainless Grooming Comb and small size is best.Their favorite grooming brush is the Miracle Coat Slicker Brush and they also like the Safari Dematting comb.
- Dog toothbrush and toothpaste-The top priority in dog dental care is brushing, ideally once a day, and several say using an enzymatic toothpaste will enhance the effects of regular brushing. Brushing a sheepadoodle puppy’s teeth using a soft-bristle toothbrush and a toothpaste designed for pets is by far the most effective form of dental preventative care. The key is to use a toothbrush with extra-soft bristles so as not to startle your puppy or cause it discomfort. Experts agree that the brush should be soft or extra soft and advises owners to start with just a little warm water on the toothbrush and then work their way up to using toothpaste. Every dog owner should consider a dog toothbrush and dog toothpaste. There are different kinds of dog toothbrushes: the traditional ones, like people use, or finger toothbrushes. If your dog won’t let you use a traditional toothbrush (or has a very small mouth) an angled finger brush makes for easy access. A common, potentially dangerous mistake owners make is to use toothpaste for humans on their dogs. Human toothpaste may contain toxins for puppies. These contain additives that can be toxic to dogs if they swallow.” This gel toothpaste also contains bacteria-fighting enzymes as well as baking soda and neem oil to whiten teeth and freshen breath. If brushing simply isn’t possible, Lewis concedes that “wipes are another good option for removal of the plaque and tartar” because you’re still physically removing food particles and plaque from your dog’s teeth. While none of our experts picked these wipes by name, they did agree that using wipes can help keep plaque and bacteria at bay if used on a regular basis.
- Ear wash and cleaner- Prevention is the key as well as a weekly maintenance hygiene program. This will help keep your sheepadoodle puppy happy, playful, able to hear and healthy.
- Nail clippers- Nail clippers will help keep your sheepadoodle puppy’s nail and paws in good shape. It also gives a great time to inspect their paws, so that pebbles or plant thorns or leaves did not get stuck hiding in your puppy’s paws.
- Blunt edge scissors (for trimming around the eyes)
We hope these sheepadoodle puppy shopping list will help you prepare and enjoy welcoming your adorable puppy! We wish you many happy ever after memories together.
